In pursuing your destiny, the most important thing to understand is this: You choose a job based on your destiny. In other words, your job must be part of your destiny, your purpose in life, or it is a colossal waste of time. I know that is a hard nugget to accept when you are unemployed or in a tight financial position but it is true for any person and in any financial situation. So, when looking for a job keep these three things in mind:
- Don't Follow The Money. If you follow your purpose then the money will follow you. Remember this; Money has a mission, Profit has a purpose and Currency has a flow. In fact, money always follows those who excel at their field and your best chance to excel is in Your purpose, the thing that you were created to do. If you take steps to follow your unique and individual purpose in life then money will follow you and always be available.
- Your Resume Is Your Life. It is so tempting to tailor your resume for whatever job you are applying. This is actually standard advice from most human resources professionals. But let me encourage you to treat your resume as an extension of yourself. Make it an honest representation of who you are and don't change it to fit someone else's desires. Unless you change your personality for each of your friends, don't change your resume for each potential employer.
- Work the Net. Network at ever opportunity. This isn't just about talking to people who may know about available jobs, it's about actively engaging with people in the networks you belong to. This will create golden opportunities to invest your time, your energy and your words into the future you wish to have. So work your church net, charity net, sports net and don't forget the Internet.
